The Best of the Bay Wine Competition & Zin Challenge attracted 308 entries from 87 different wineries!
Top awards for the competition went to the following wines:
Best of Bay White Wine: 
Concannon Vineyard, 2008 Sauvignon Blanc Reserve, Livermore Valley

Best of Bay Red Wine:
Fenestra Winery, 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, Livermore Valley, Thatcher Bay Vineyard

Best of Zin Challenge:
 Macchia Winery, 2007 Luxurious Zinfandel, Lodi

A total of 16 Gold medals were awarded to wineries who entered the Best of the Bay Wine Competition, which is open to all commercially bonded wineries located in Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz and Solano counties.
The Zin Challenge attracted 144 entries from 74 wineries.  Judges awarded 17 Gold medals in the Zin Challenge, which is open to all commercially bonded wineries within the United State producing red Zinfandel.
Medal winning wines will be honored at the Awards Reception and Wine Tasting event held during the fair on Wednesday July 15, 2009 in Pleasanton!
